A study in movement and memory….

afternature

I use 'afternature' to describe my work in its entirety; a study of movement and memory.  Using ideas of significant experiences, motion of the body and life cycles, the issue of nature and nurture are constantly being addressed through a diverse practice.  Embracing a cross-disciplined approach that began with 2D media and dance now reaches as far as textiles where works are created as 2D, 3D installation and performance.

Work continues to evolve through a process of seeing and identifying what is afternature.  It seems far from the body being separate in time and space it is one with it; whilst embodying patterns and motion that constantly work through cycles of life and death, it also shadows the passage of time on the earth's surface.  Past, present and future come together in the breath of the body and its shape as it carves its arc through space meanwhile the mind echoes moments in the shape of memorable observance.
